Awasome Ahoge Hair References. Web ahoge (アホゲ, idiot hair): Consisting of a single cute, often long, lock of hair sticking out from the top of the head, it is most often used to identify foolish, bumbling or carefree characters.
The literal translation of ahoge is foolish hair, and for some characters it's a natural part of their hair. The term refers to the noticeable strand of hair which sticks in a different direction from the rest of an anime character’s hair. And why do so many characters have it?
